Melina Sarra-May, international therapist and clinical supervisor, smiling, looking empathic.

Welcome

I'm Melina, an international therapist with over 30 years’ clinical experience working with clients across a wide range of mental health concerns. I offer reflective supervision for therapists and helping professionals, integrating trauma-informed, evidence-based practice with coaching and holistic approaches.

You may be a counsellor, psychotherapist, coach or helping professional, working with adults, young people, couples or groups - looking for supervision that is thoughtful, supportive and grounded in clinical experience.

My work spans an extensive range of issues, from anxiety, depression and grief to more complex trauma and PTSD.

I am a specialist trauma counsellor with expertise in sexual abuse, sexual violence and childhood trauma, as well as addictions and relationships counselling. My practice is trauma-informed and because it is important that you feel safe presenting clients and supported within the supervisory relationship.

I also integrate wellness coaching, supporting supervisees to explore professional resilience, self-care and balance alongside clinical reflection.

International Work

I'm British-Italian, based in the UK, and I work online remotely with supervisees worldwide. I am passionate about engaging with clients from diverse cultures and backgrounds, supporting expats, remote professionals and nomadic workers. Bringing a culturally sensitive approach to supervision, respecting each individual's unique journey and identity. My own experiences of transition and displacement have deeply informed my practice, empathy and understanding. As I am drawn to those who have been displaced, marginalised, or targeted in some way.

About Supervision

Clinical supervision supports practitioners in both their practice and their wellbeing. It gives you a safe space to reflect on your work, including the impact of secondary or vicarious trauma. It also helps ensure your practice stays professional, ethical and aligned with recognised frameworks, while safeguarding clients and promoting good practice.

I see supervision as a safe space for reflection, decompression and self-care, where you can explore client cases, raise concerns and celebrate successes. I believe that warmth, openness and authenticity are the foundation of trust in our supervisory relationship and that consistency strengthens both the bond and the depth of the work.

An integrative approach

How I Work

My clinical supervision approach is integrative, trauma-informed and tailored to each supervisee. I combine reflective practice with evidence-based approaches and elements of coaching to support professional growth, resilience and wellbeing. Supervision unfolds at a pace that prioritises safety, trust and what feels possible for you. I aim to create a supportive, non-judgmental environment where you can deepen your practice, manage the impact of secondary trauma and strengthen both your confidence and professional skills.

I use mind-body methods such as breathwork and meditation with gentle trauma-informed movements to support the nervous system and emotional regulation.

Supervisee's Testimonials

A young male sat looking peaceful with a book in his hands.

"I would recommend Melina for clinical supervision, if you want an approach that is genuine, warm, caring, reflective and informed. I am able to be fully transparent about my emotions and thought processes about my clients. I have felt safe to be able to explain fully how the therapy I have undertaken has impacted on my own well-being. I have learned to be extremely confident in my abilities and my ethical approach."

"I find Melina extremely warm and encouraging of my development. Able to give enough of herself without taking away from her supervisee's. She is naturally able to guide me towards reflection rather than merely advising me to do it."

"I feel that I am becoming a better therapist for my clients working in a specialised area, Gaining a kinder and more compassionate relationship to myself and a better understanding of trauma. A huge impact and thank you Melina, you have been fantastic and I appreciate your supervision and support so much."

"I have increased my self-awareness and assertiveness and improved communication and dynamics within my team. Through clinical supervision work I have set up policies and procedures and increased my ability to make decisions. Thank you so much."
