I am Melina and I am a BACP Accredited Counsellor and I provide private and confidential therapeutic support, so you can find resolution to your problems and achieve your goals to live a happier life. I am an experienced counsellor, with over thirty years in practice, working with client's presenting with a wide range of emotional issues, such as anxiety, depression, loss and grief, to more complex childhood issues and trauma. I am passionate about helping others, whether it is about themselves, their relationships, or the world around them and dedicated to making a positive impact in your life.
Melina therapy is a trauma informed practise, drawn from my experiences of working directly with trauma and understanding how pain sits within our mind and body, affecting how we feel, behave, our relationships and wellbeing. I have expertise in addictions, relationships, sexual abuse, sexual violence, trauma and PTSD. As well as mind and body methods such as breathwork and meditation to self regulate our nervous system and manage stress responses.
I provide therapy for young people, adults, couple's, intimate partners relationships, for business and organisations. Lifestyle and wellness coaching to individuals, classes and groups and clinical supervision for therapists and practitioners who work in mental health or whose roles affect their own wellbeing.
My practice is inclusive and I welcome clients regardless of gender, sexuality, race, origin or culture. I have experience working with women, people often marginalised in society and men, understanding that it can be difficult reaching out and seeking support.
At any time in our lives we can face difficult challenges, whether a recent event, health or something triggered from the past. Or experiencing overwhelming emotions, such as anxiety and depression. We all need a bit of additional support at times and talking to someone who is professionally trained and impartial can really help.
By definition I would describe counselling as the process of healing, to make or becoming sound and healthy again. A safe space for you to explore your feeling, be listened to and feel heard and understood. So you don't have to feel isolated or alone anymore.
In therapy we often look at our past, the aim is not to blame, but to understand, change our meaning, our narrative and our sense of ourselves and our story. To address low self-belief and turn a negative dialogue into a positive one.
I take an holistic approach to treat each client, as a 'whole' rather than just see the problem they are presenting with.
