If you are looking for a counsellor/coach, I am Melina, a licensed BACP accredited counsellor with thirty years' experience supporting clients with a wide variety of emotional and mental health issues, from anxiety, depression, loss, grief, low self-esteem to more sensitive, childhood issues, trauma and PTSD.
I am a specialist trauma counsellor and I specialise in sexual abuse, sexual assault, rape, sexual violence and domestic violence (having previously worked in a Sexual Assault Referral Centre and for Rape Crisis). My practice is trauma informed, as it is important that you feel safe with me and safe in the therapeutic space. Also, as we have become more aware of how past trauma sits within us, clients often seek this specialist support to combat fear and anxiety, make sense of the complexity of feelings, to heal and feel safe in their mind and bodies again.
I have expertise in addictions; drugs, alcohol and also other addictions such as online internet addiction. I also have expertise in therapy for couples, intimate partners with relationship problems. And wellness coaching to achieve goals, develop self-care, self-improvement routines for the purpose of enhancing self-esteem, confidence and your daily life and routines.
I am English Italian, living in the UK, supporting clients here, internationally and around the globe.
I am culturally sensitive and naturally drawn to those who have been marginalised or targeted in some way. Often clients come to me who have been displaced, struggling with identity, going through change/transitions or missing a sense of being or belonging.
At any time in our lives, we can face personal challenges or deep painful issues are triggered from our past - experiencing anger, sadness, guilt, fear or shame. I believe that feeling safe, feeling heard and feeling accepted are the core conditions to enable healing to begin.
By definition I would describe therapy as the process of healing, to make or become sound again. I understand that therapy can seem daunting, however, starting the process is to open-up and heal.
In our therapy sessions we may look at the past, the aim is not to self-blame, rather to explore with compassion, so we can understand, change our narrative and our sense of ourselves and our story. And within this safe space where we can be vulnerable, curious, explorative and celebrative. Melina therapy is providing all of these and anything in-between.
Similarly, we may want to focus on what is happening for you now and explore ways that will support and enhance your day-to-day wellness, so you can feel happier, more motivated, purposeful and therefore content.
