Welcome, thank you for joining me here at Melina Yoga. My name is Melina and I am passionate about Trauma Recovery Yoga because it is beneficial for anyone and safe and beneficial for anyone who has experienced trauma. It is rooted in neuroscience and psychology with mind to body connections such as breathwork and meditation to help regulate the nervous system and promote emotional regularity.
Melina Yoga is rooted in compassion, creating a safe and supportive space for individuals to discover presence and feel safe in their mind and body again.
In 2024 I completed training with TRY Global, a charity in Afghanistan who deliver classes in countries at war. Far reaching, individuals, women, children, within refugee camps and communities, and anyone impacted by trauma.
As a trauma specialist counsellor, I have dedicated over thirty years to helping clients heal through talk-therapy and now I would love to share these methods with you - so you can experience the gentle, effective healing of trauma recovery yoga.
Approachable for everyone and meeting people where they are, Melina Yoga is for both beginners and seasoned practitioners alike.
As I honour the space between one movement to the next and between one inhale and one exhale. I honour the journey of each person - recognising that healing is not a destination but a process - one that unfolds with patience, awareness and self-love.
Safety, predictability, repetition & choice.
What you can expect is a very gently slow practice, with trauma informed non-triggering language.
A choice-based-approach, so you can listen to your body and do what feels right for you on the day.
With gentle repetitive movements to create a sense of control.
And structured sequences and cueing.
Developing tools to bring you back to the present moment, that you can do everyday, no matter where you are.
Showing-up and breathing is practicing. It's your yoga, your journey.
