Supervision to meet your needs

Melina Sarra-May, international therapist and clinical supervisor, smiling, looking empathic.

Welcome to Melina Therapy and Clinical Supervision. I am Melina a BACP-accredited integrative counsellor and wellness coach with 30 years of experience. I provide bespoke supervision for therapists, coaches and practitioners who engage empathetically with clients. My work spans a wide range of issues, from anxiety, depression and grief to more sensitive concerns like childhood trauma, self-harm and PTSD. As an international therapist, I bring a global perspective to my practice, ensuring culturally sensitive and inclusive support.

Trauma Therapy

I am a  trauma specialist counsellor, with expertise in sexual abuse and sexual violence. My practice is entirely trauma-informed, ensuring that you feel safe and supported within our supervisory relationship.

Addictions Counselling

I have extensive expertise in addiction counselling, covering substance misuse (drug and alcohol), as well as behavioural addictions like pornography and online compulsions.

Relationship Counselling

I specialise in emotional focused therapy for couples and intermate partners, helping to strengthen bonds and resolve conflicts in any defined relationship.

Wellness Coaching

As a wellness and life coach, I support clients in achieving their goals and aspirations, guiding them toward balance and alignment in their daily lives.

About Me

I'm an English-Italian therapist, based in the UK, and I work primarily online, connecting with clients worldwide. My passion lies in engaging with diverse cultures and backgrounds, and I have considerable experience working with expats, remote professionals and nomadic workers. I bring a culturally sensitive approach to therapy and supervision, honouring each individuals unique journey. My own experiences have deeply shaped my approach, fostering empathy and understanding, especially for those who have felt marginalised or displaced.

About Supervision

Clinical supervision supports practitioners by enhancing their practice and supporting their mental health and well-being. It addresses secondary and vicarious trauma, ensuring that those who engage empathetically with clients are supported. Aligned with the BACP Ethical Framework, supervision promotes good practice and protects clients from risk.

I see supervision as a safe space for reflection, decompression and self-care, where you can explore cases, raise concerns and celebrate your successes. Warmth, openness and authenticity are the foundation of trust in our relationship and consistency strengthens the bond

  • breathwork and meditation
  • solution focused
  • play and creative therapy
  • trauma recovery yoga

I am experienced supporting:

  • children, young people
  • women, pregnant women
  • minority groups
  • adults
  • LGBTQIA+
  • men
  • couples, intimate partners
  • families

Trauma Recovery Yoga

In 2024 I trained with an incredible charity in Afghanistan (being the first UK participant), who bring trauma recovery yoga to women, children and refugees in conflict zones. This experience has really deepened my understanding of how gentle movement, breathwork and meditation can help release trauma safely, calm the mind and bring presence. Beautifully complimenting the therapy work I have been doing for decades.

I'd love to hear from you and learn about your practice!

Supervisee's Testimonials

A young male sat looking peaceful with a book in his hands.

"I would recommend Melina for clinical supervision, if you want an approach that is genuine, warm, caring, reflective and informed. I am able to be fully transparent about my emotions and thought processes about my clients. I have felt safe to be able to explain fully how the therapy I have undertaken has impacted on my own well-being. I have learned to be extremely confident in my abilities and my ethical approach."

"I find Melina extremely warm and encouraging of my development. Able to give enough of herself without taking away from her supervisee's. She is naturally able to guide me towards reflection rather than merely advising me to do it."

"I have increased my self-awareness and assertiveness and improved communication and dynamics within my team. Through clinical supervision work I have set up policies and procedures and increased my ability to make decisions. Thank you so much."

"I feel that I am becoming a better therapist for my clients working in a specialised area, Gaining a kinder and more compassionate relationship to myself and a better understanding of trauma.
