Welcome, my name is Melina Sarra-May and I am a fully qualified BACP Accredited Counsellor, Clinical Supervisor and Wellness Coach. Bringing 28 year's clinical practice to supervision and drawn from my experiences of working with children, young people, adults, couples and organisations.
I am experienced in working with a vast variety of mental health issues that clients present with from generalised unwellness to more sensitive taboo issues, complex trauma and turmoil cases. Including anxiety, depression, loss, grief, confidence, low self-esteem and relationships. With expertise and experience in addictions, sexual abuse, sexual assault and rape, self-harm, trauma and PTSD.
I am experienced in supporting supervisee's working in crisis intervention, short term to longer term therapy, coaching and mentoring roles, charities, schools, NHS and E.A.P.
I am of English-Italian heritage and from my own experiences this has led me to have a particular interest in identity and empathy towards understanding cultural sensitivity.
As a regular practitioner of mindfulness, I pay particular attention to my well-being and self-care. Blending both eastern and western philosophies into everyday living.
Clinical supervision is for counsellors, psychotherapists and those whose roles impact upon their mental health and will benefit from the process of supervision. I adhere to the BACP Ethical Framework and Professional Standards to keep clients safe, protect them from poor practice and enhance good practice.
I believe that supervision is a collaborative space for support, guidance and positive growth and an opportunity for you to explore and develop further in your practice. A safe space where you can take time to process your work and be reflective in your practice and check in on your self-care. Where you can explore your cases, raise concerns and challenges and celebrate the joy of client work.
I believe that warmth, openness and authenticity are key qualities to building trust and honesty within the supervision relationship and without judgment and worry of getting something 'wrong'. While the consistency of supervision is essential to affirming the supervisory bond and depth of the work.
My therapeutic approach is integrative and drawn from a unique blend of therapies and coaching techniques. Informed by Person Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, Neurolinguistic Programming, Creative Play and Solution Focused Therapy. Enabling me to tailor your supervision to your individual needs.
Whether you are a trainee, recently qualified or a seasoned practitioner and working from a variety of modalities, all enquiries are welcome.

- I would recommend Melina if you want an approach that is genuine, warm, caring, reflective and informed. I am able to be fully transparent about my emotions and thought processes about my clients. I have felt safe to be able to explain fully how the therapy I have undertaken has impacted on my own well-being. I have learned to be extremely confident in my abilities and my ethical approach.
- I find Melina extremely warm and encouraging of my development. Able to give enough of herself without taking away from her supervisee's. She is naturally able to guide me towards reflection rather than merely 'making' me do it.
- I have increased my self awareness and assertiveness and improved arrangements for my team through supervision work, setting up policies and procedures and increased my ability to make decisions. Thank you so much.
- I feel that I am becoming a better therapist for my clients working in a specialised area, Gaining a kinder and more compassionate relationship to myself and a better understanding of trauma. A huge impact and thank you Melina, you have been fantastic and I appreciate your supervision and support so much.
