A warm welcome to Melina Therapy and to my Clinical Supervision Service. I am a BACP Accredited Counsellor, with over thirty years experience working as a therapist. I provide clinical supervision to counsellors and practitioners who work in private practice, education, charities, organisations, healthcare and specialist crisis and mental health roles. I work online from the U.K and with clients all over the world.
I am experienced in working with clients who present with a wide variety of emotional issues, including anxiety, depression, loss and grief. To more complex childhood issues and trauma.
My practice is trauma informed and I have expertise in addictions, substance misuse, alcohol, sexual abuse and sexual violence and relationships.
I am experienced working with children, young people, adults, couples and intimate partners relationships and families.
My practice is inclusive and I have extensive experience working with marginalised and often hard to reach clients, whether they have been targeted or stigmatised due to gender, sexuality, origins, culture or circumstance. I am very passionate about my therapeutic practice and supporting supervisee's with theirs. p
Clinical Supervision is for counsellors, psychotherapists and health professionals who provide emotional support for clients and their roles can impact upon their own mental health. It is similar to the process of therapy, where you will meet with a supervisor who is fully trained and impartial. For some therapists this is a professional requirement and for others who recognise the support and its ethical benefits.
Anyone who engages empathically with survivors of traumatic incidents and is witness to material relating to their trauma, can potentially be affected. This includes doctors and other health professionals. Often described as secondary or vicarious trauma, this trauma affects how you think, feel and act. Feeling anxious, sad, irritable, angry, numb or on edge. Also, vicarious trauma is directly related to a lack of work-life balance resulting in compassion fatigue and burn out.
I would describe my supervision as your safe space where you can bring any concerns, explore cases and be reflective in your practice. Where we can acknowledge your achievements and celebrate the joy of client work.
My therapeutic approach is Integrative and drawn from a variety of evidence based therapies with a unique blend of coaching and eastern philosophies including;
I regard supervision as a collaborative space for support, guidance and learning, so that you can grow as a practitioner and have space to check in on your self and wellbeing.
I believe that warmth, openness and authenticity are the key qualities to building trust within the therapeutic relationship. While the consistency of supervision is essential to affirming the supervisory bond and depth of the work.
My supervision practice adheres to the BACP Ethical Framework by enhancing good practice and keeping clients safe from poor practice.
I provide an holistic approach towards your supervision, drawn from the demands of your profession, we all need wellness reminders and a little breathing space.
