Thank you for joining me here at Melina Yoga. My name is Melina and I am passionate about Trauma Recovery Yoga because it is beneficial for anyone and safe and beneficial for anyone who has experienced trauma.
Rooted in neuroscience and psychology. Engaging both mind and body connections such as breathwork and meditation, to help regulate the nervous system and promote emotional regularity. So you can feel safe in your mind and body again - and I would love to share these methods with you.
For the past thirty years I have been a counsellor, dedicated to helping clients heal through talk-therapy. Promoting positive mental health and specialising in sexual violence, trauma and PTSD. Throughout my career, I have been truly inspired by the resilience of my clients and the many ways that healing evolves.
In 2023 I discovered an online Trauma Recovery Yoga class, not knowing how transformative it would be. Though initially apprehensive, I joined the session, to discover a profound sense of grounding and calm. I began attending classes regularly and realised how these approaches beautifully complimented the work I have been doing for decades.
By 2024, I had trained with a visionary Afghanistan based charity (the first UK participant), delivering trauma recovery yoga to women, children and refugees in conflict war zones. This deepened my understanding of how mind-body practices can release stored tension and trauma safely and restore balance.

My classes are designed to discover presence and create a warm, safe space for healing and growth. Helping you reconnect with your mind and body through stillness, gentle movement, breathwork and meditation. So you can experience the gentle, effective healing of trauma recovery yoga.

This is a short SRR practice, that you can do anywhere. It's really accessible and simple tools to bring you back to the present. Working with neuroplasticity to re-wire the brain for more healthier positive thoughts and behaviours - and with practice creating muscle memory so you can call on this practice when you really need it. But perfect for every day.
